Jennifer Douthit

Bio

I began my career in Huntsville City Schools in August of 1998. During my career I have taught gifted, English language learners, third grade, I was a reading coach, an assistant principal and am now a principal. I have loved all of the various roles I have been in as an educator but being a principal is my favorite. As a classroom teacher, I truly fell in love with the art of teaching students and watching them evolve and grow in their learning. Every day was different and exciting for me. When I became a Reading Coach I fell in love with adult learning. Again, every day was different and exciting. As a principal I am able to combine both of my loves- student learning and adult learning. It is the perfect combination for me!

On a personal note, I am a married mother of two. I have been married to my husband Bobby since October of 2002. Our son was born in 2005 and our daughter was born in 2008. They definitely keep me very busy when I am not working! When I do have spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading for professional growth and personal enjoyment, DIY projects and traveling. My favorite place to visit is the beach but I also love visiting place I have never been!

An interesting fact about me is that I am a fourth generation graduate of Huntsville City Schools and my children will be fifth generation graduates. I definitely have a vested interest in the success of the school district, especially at Goldsmith Schiffman!
