I have been in healthcare for 20 years, a nurse for 13. My experience includes ER/trauma, cardiac care, intensive care, and school nursing. This is my 5th school year as a substitute school nurse for 4 different school systems (including Hsv City) in addition to working in the hospital, but this is my 1st year working as a full time school nurse. I am beyond excited to be here & to be a full time school nurse! My husband & I have 4 children, 3 boys & a girl. Their ages range from 11 to 15 so, I'm a very busy momma!
Parents are encouraged to contact the school nurse during school hours to discuss student health conditions or concerns. The nurse can be reached by telephone or email.
The School Health Services Program promotes the health of all students, affording them an opportunity to better participate in learning and receive the maximum benefit from their instructional program. Barriers to learning that can accompany a variety of chronic and acute health conditions must be identified and minimized for students to participate and learn to their maximum potential.
The Health Services program is designed to focus on the health status of students; to educate and counsel students, teachers, and parents related to health issues; to help prevent and control communicable disease; to provide emergency care for injury and/or sudden illness; to promote optimum conditions in school buildings; to promote health education as an integral part of the curriculum.
The clinic is closed from 8:30 AM-9:00 AM, during student lunch, and after 2PM each day except for emergencies and students with mandated needs.
