Greetings Chaffee Families,
We have a few exciting events this week and can’t wait to see you there! First up is our PTA Meeting with Open House this Tuesday at 5:30-7pm. Please enter the school through the cafeteria. The PTA Meeting will be from 5:30-6pm, followed by Open House from 6-7pm. Bruster’s will be on site--enjoy some ice cream with friends! On Friday, September 1, we will have Muffins in the Morning at 7:20-8am. This event is for Chaffee families, so bring your child(ren) and enjoy muffins together in the cafeteria before school begins.
For school-wide events we encourage you to use Community Fellowship Church for parking. Please do not block driveways or carline or park on anyone’s curb in our community.
I encourage everyone to join our PTA! We are very fortunate to have such a hardworking and supportive PTA. Becoming a member is a wonderful way to support the school and your child(ren), so we hope you will join if you have not done so already. The class with the most PTA Members by August 29 will win a doughnut party with our school mascot, Bruce!
As with many other businesses, our school is experiencing difficulty finding personnel to fill certain positions. We are in search of special education instructional assistants (hired through Huntsville City Schools). If you are interested in working in this area, or know someone who is, please reach out to me at april.clark@hsv-k12.org. Chaffee is a great place to work!
Students learn best when they are at school. If your child has to be absent due to sickness, don’t forget to send/email a parent or doctor excuse note within two days of your child’s absence. We will adhere to the following truancy guidelines:
--After 3 unexcused absences, parent/guardian will receive a First Notification Letter from the school with a reminder of our attendance policy.
--After 5 unexcused absences, parent/guardian will receive a Second Notification Letter from the school with an invitation to attend an Early Warning Conference to discuss the student’s absences.

Chaffee Elementary Back to School Open House
Come see your child's classroom, meet other families, and join our PTA meeting,
Tuesday, August 29 | 5:30p-6:00p
PTA Meeting will be held in the cafeteria and classroom Open House will take place from 6-7p.
Room Parent Sign-up
Are you interested in helping your child's teacher plan parties and coordinate other fun events? Room parent sign-up will take place in your child's classroom during the Open House.
Muffins in the Morning
Join us for muffins and orange juice before school. Students must be accompanied by an adult to attend. Extra parking is available at Community Fellowship Church. Please do not park in the drop off lines.
