Remote learning will include live instruction with classroom teachers daily during the first 45 minutes of each scheduled class period. Links and assignments will be posted on Schoology. Live instruction will take place during these times:

  • First period          8:30 am - 9:15 am
  • Second period     9:59 am - 10:44 am
  • Third period         11:28 am- 12:13 pm
  • Fourth period       2:16 pm - 3:01 pm

Curbside meals will be served Monday, Jan. 24 through Friday, Jan. 28 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Curbside participants will receive three meals simultaneously which will include breakfast, lunch, and snack.

Students currently taking dual enrollment courses must follow the directions of the school where they attend class(es). Note from Calhoun: The students in on-site classes will still be expected to attend class.  If they cannot attend because of transportation issues they will need to contact their instructors and let them know.

Helpdesk will be available for students experiencing technology issues. They can be reached at 256-428-6900.

Any students or staff members who test positive for COVID-19 during the remote learning period should continue to notify the school nurse by email.

PTSA Open House and Club Fair

We will be postponing the spring PTSA Open House and Club Fair.  We look forward to meeting with you and sharing information about our clubs and activities at a later date.

Curriculum Showcase

The 2022 Curriculum Showcase (formerly iRegister) will be Friday, February 4 from 4pm-7pm  at the VBC North Hall.  We will have booths set up for different departments (such as magnet programs, SPED, Honors and AP); HCS staff will be available to answer questions and provide guidance.  We will also have a counseling booth to assist families with registration questions.  Our Career Tech department will showcase all of their program offerings.  We will also have several colleges on hand to meet with students and parents/guardians, and several local businesses will attend and will offer information related to employment opportunities.  Sessions will include information related to each grade level, rising 6th-12th, college and career information, as well as AP and Honors and Magnet programs. This event is a great opportunity for parents and students to find out more about course offerings within HCS as they prepare for registration for the 2022-23 school year.
