September Principal's Update
We are halfway through the first quarter. My how time flies when you are having fun.
Student Learning Outcomes
We have completed our Beginning of the Year (BOY) Assessments. These assessments are critical to ensure students are consistently progressing and achieving. The data for these BOY diagnostic assessments allow our teaching staff to tailor their instruction to ensure each student’s deficiencies are met.
ACAP results have been released and each student’s score report has been sent home. I am extremely proud of our student’s performance. However, we do have some work to do. Our focus this year is on math. We have instituted our Focused Learning Time (FLT) and After-school tutoring.
Whole Student Development
We have started our Club MSE program for the year. This program allows 3rd-6th grade students choose a club or activity of their choice to participate in for the semester. Our club/activities are based in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Each activity is meant to provide a deep dive for students in their respective activity. This semester’s activities include:
- Jumpstart Python Coding
- E.A.R.T.H. Club (Everyday Actions Result in Thoughtful Habits)
- Math Club
- Creating Games with Scratch Coding
- Drama Club
- Music Lovers Club
- ChessKid
- Fun with Science
- STEM with Food
- Garden Club
- Literacy Games
- GreenPower Team
- Healthy & Nutritional Cooking
- Paper Crafts
Community Connections
I want to truly thank our PTA for their unwavering support for our school. Our PTA does so much to ensure that our students are successful. They fund our Reading Interventionist and our Accelerated Reader (AR) celebrations to name a few. This year, we embarked on a joint venture to upgrade technology in the classroom with the installation of new ViewSonic Boards.
We will host our Open House and PTA Meeting on September 15 and we will have our Grandparents Lunch on September 29. Please come out and join us.
