Malena Smotherman

Bio

Mrs. Malena Smotherman is happy to be the Reading Specialist this year. She has been teaching fifth graders at Hampton Cove Elementary for nearly two decades. In her free time, she enjoys going to wrestling tournaments, participating in car shows, reading, and traveling. She loves to spend time with her husband and two teenage children. Mrs. Smotherman's professional interests are to learn about the most current strategies for teaching intermediate grades and implement these into the classroom. She is passionate about teaching history and mathematics, and enjoys observing her students as they develop a love for reading.
