Creative writing students learn their art through solitary composition, in workshops with classmates and teachers, and in master classes with visiting poets and fiction writers. Students refine their work, always searching for a better word, a more precise turn-of-phrase, a more compelling form of expression. Students learn to think critically, while simultaneously improving their technical skills as writers. Through continuous reading, discussion, writing and revision, AAA writers learn and practice the writing process, producing poems, stories and essays of high literary merit, while discovering and developing their individual artistic voices.
