- ASFL Magnet Application Information
- After applying, rising Pre-K - 5th grade students do not have any additional requirements.
- Notifications will be sent via email and postal mail once the selection process is completed, which occurs after the magnet application has closed.
- After applying, rising 6th - 8th students will need to come to ASFL to complete the “Next Step” process, which involves completing an online writing sample on a designated date. Please bring an HCS laptop and charger if able. Applicants will be notified of dates via email.
- Notifications will be sent via email and postal mail once the selection process is completed, which occurs after the magnet application has closed.
- New dates will be available in the Fall for 2020-2021 applicants.
- Students should be prepared to write full paragraph responses about personal experiences related to science & foreign language, personal interest in the areas of science & foreign language, and commitment to our school.
- See the rubric below for guidance on how these writing samples are scored.
- The Magnet Office will run the lottery for student selection. All students will be notified of their standing via email and postal mail.
