Bio
My name is Dana Amert, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! I began my career as an elementary school teacher here at Challenger Elementary in 2020. I am thrilled to be a part of the Challenger team.
I was born and raised in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. In 2017, I married my husband, Joel. We then moved to Alabama to pursue his career as an aerospace engineer and my master's degree in elementary education. In 2018, we adopted our first two dogs, Tater Tot (a Pomeranian/corgi mix) and Chance (a Jack Russell terrier/beagle mix). We adopted our third dog, Chandler (Pomeranian/dachshund mix) in 2021.
In addition to teaching, I enjoy reading, creative writing, traveling, relaxing, and spending time with my loved ones. I also enjoy shopping, running, watching Minnesota Vikings football, and doing artistic things (including painting, drawing, and crafting).
I love working with children and believe that every child is special and unique. I also believe that every student is capable of learning and succeeding when their individual differences are recognized and supported. This year, my goals are to create a safe and positive learning environment, to inspire a love of learning in each of my students, and to help each student realize and work toward their full potential. I look forward to a wonderful year of teaching and learning!

Experience
I spent some time working as a tutor while pursuing my undergraduate degree at UWEC. I also taught preschool/prekindergarten for about two and a half years while living in Minnesota. During my time as a preschool/prekindergarten teacher, I also worked with school-age children before and after school. During my master's program at UAH, I completed field placements at various elementary schools in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County school districts.
